Our Past
Ohio Valley Manor, Inc., a privately held
corporation, was conceived in the late 1960's by a small group of local entrepreneurs concerned about the lack of availability
of high quality long-term care in Brown County and the surrounding areas. Over the next two years, plans were developed,
reviewed and revised, the certificate of need received, construction initiated and application for licensure and certification
made. On April 9, 1971, the area's first 50-bed nursing facility --- called Ohio Valley Manor Convalescent Center ---
officially opened.Since its
inception, Ohio Valley Manor's ownership has continued to be local and responsive to meeting community needs with continued
commitment and dedication to the financial and personal investments necessary for growth. Through the years, modiciations
in Ohio Valley Manor's physical environment have altered the organization's original exterior and interior, but the corporation's
level of commitment and dedication have endured, as has the philosophy from which it grew: "that every individual,
regardless of the degree of impairment, has the right to an environment which will assist him or her in the preservation of
physical and mental functioning, dignity, and quality of life."
Our Present
In the past 40 years, Ohio Valley Manor has expanded
its services to provide multiple options
for healthcare. From long-term care to Respite Care, Assisted Living, Short-Term Rehabilitation, Subacute Care, Memory
Care, Outpatient Therapy and Home Health, OVM maintains its enduring reputation for excellence in services.
Ohio Valley Manor is today
one of the largest employers in Brown County, providing career opportunities and fulfillment for nearly 250
healthcare professionals and para-professionals.
Our Future
Ohio
Valley Manor is continuing to grow to better meet
the changing healthcare needs and expectations of today's healthcare services consumer. With plans for a major facility expansion in 2011-2012, the
official groundbreaking ceremony was held on July 20th. During Phase One, expected to be completed in Spring 2012, additional
