A Caregiver’s Prayer Oh Lord, you planned
our lives to include old
age --- Geriatrics,
we call it. Let me show respect, not tolerance for these folks entrusted to my care. Right now I am young, sharp of memory, sure of foot and strong of body. It’s easy to think that I’ll always be that way, But You know better. These people were young once, just as I will be old someday. Help me to look at them --- not overlook them. Help me to really listen when they talk to me. Help me to comfort them, touch them and
treasure them. Allow me to show respect for their years
of toil, their
decades of devotion and
their lifetimes of loving. Let me strive for appreciation, not patronage, for their years of living. Blessed are the old. They, too, have been young and endured. --- Author Unknown
