Ohio Valley Manor, Inc., a privately held
corporation, was conceived in the late 1960's by a small group of local entrepreneurs concerned about the lack of availability
of high quality long term care in Brown County and the surrounding areas. Over the next two years, plans were developed, reviewed
and revised, the certificate of need received, construction initiated and application for licensure and certification made.
On April 9, 1971, the area's first 50-bed nursing facility --- called Ohio Valley Manor Convalescent Center --- officially
opened.
Since its inception,
Ohio Valley Manor's ownership has continued to be local and responsive to meeting community needs with continued
commitment and dedication to the financial and personal investments necessary to growth. Through the years, modifications
in Ohio Valley Manor's physical environment have altered the organization's original exterior and interior, but the corporation's
level of commitment and dedication have endured as has the philosophy from which it grew: "that every individual, regardless of the degree
of impairment, has the right to an environment which will assist him or her in the preservation of physical and
mental functioning, dignity, and quality of life."
